MUSICIANS AT WAR! 5
My take on the Pastor Vs Musicians issue!
The case study of Elisha and the minstrel!
THE ANALYSIS! ( Second book of kings 3 vs 15) Part Three!
FROM THE PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN'S VIEW!
° FACTS
*It was the work of Elijah as a prophet to prophesy, and not the work of the musician.
*The basic requirement of Elisha was to find a minstrel who can play skillfully, not the one who can play with anointing.
* The office of this particular minstrel was not even religious, it was secular (Prove it otherwise and I will believe you) Otherwise the Bible would have stated that the musician was from the temple!
* The word "minstrel" is an old word describing a secular musician! ( A musician who does non religious music)

* Who was a Minstrel?
"A minstrel was a medieval European entertainer. Originally describing any type of entertainer such as a musician, juggler, acrobat, singer or fool (Comedian), the term later, from the sixteenth century, came to mean a specialist entertainer who sang songs and played musical instruments."
The above explanation tells you that the word 'minstrel' is far from what we take it to be! (I will write more about Musicians and Minstrels on a future post)

* For Church musicians! During a Church service, there are different kinds of music we provide, depending on the particular stage or session of the service. The music you play for worship session are different from the ones you play for praise sessions! The music you play for communion is different from the one you play for first timers recognition. The music you do before your pastor preaches is still different from the one you play while he is preaching (for Pastors who prefers them)
